I just made a post about inexpensive ways to send money from Taiwan to the US.

Chinatrust told us that they charge a $30 fee to send, but then the money is routed through some back in Switzerland before it hits the bank in the US. They were unable to explain why the money goes through Switzerland, or what the Swiss bank charges in fees, if any. My bank in the US charges $15 to receive the funds.

Is this the only way to do it? Has anyone been successful sending money by less expensive means-- like Paypal e-check or ??

Thanks

The few times I’ve wired money home, there were 3 banks charging fees, which added up to about US$40: the sending bank, an intermediary bank and the receiving bank.
