my visa runs out today, i tried to get it extended but it is a 30 day and those are unextendable… i wouldn’t have this problem except my boss ran into government problems with his business while applying for my work permit…
i don’t have the money to make a visa run right now , because i haven’t been working for two months and i spent my money on a trip to paris which i will be taking in less then two months…
so i want to overstay by about 6 weeks and take care of getting another visa when i am in paris…
i just want to be sure i will be able to get another visa
from what i have read it’s pretty much up to the discretion of the person issuing the visa, and a lot of grovelling on my part…
which i plan on doing…
and i will pay a fine, and not be able to get landing visas for a year…
am i correct in all of this information , is there any information i am missing?
all help is appreciated!

No, you won’t. If you ever want another Taiwan visa again, leave NOW and do your visa run.
Brian
Right. You definitely need to leave ASAP.
Why do a lot of people tell me that they had no problem overstaying and then leaving and getting another visa?
How can you flat out say no you won’t ?
Did you have a bad experience?
It doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get another visa, but it does mean you will have a tough time getting one. Leave.
Right. The policy of the Moderators of these Legal Forums is to advise everyone to follow the law.
You need to leave ASAP.
I’ve known people with incredibly good reasons for overstaying, with signed letters form legislators asking that they be allowed to stay (well that was in one case) still getting deported and not being able to return for a year or more (and not being allowed to ever get a landing visa again).
Every now and then you hear stories about people getting lucky and paying a fine only, but 1) They were just lucky and 2) That was for a few days or so overstay.
But feel free to ignore this advice. Personally, I don’t give a toss.
Brian
I agree with the above posters. You need to leave tomorrow . . . . . if you have not already left today.
why do you Taiwan long-tooths have to be such idiots sometimes
the guy is asking for help - you gave yours and i’m sure he noted it
bullsh*t comments like that reflect only on you, and everything you’ve ever “written”

Because, to tell you the honest truth. I really don’t care. Unless you know this person personally, I doubt you do either.
There’s also of advice on the forum, if you read back a bit, (from people who know waht they’re talking about) warning in the stongest of terms against overstaying. I was giving advice. My point was - accept that advice if you like, the issue has been discussed in detail before, I don’t really feel the need to 'defend; this advie against “a lot of people tell me that they have no problem overstaying” - I don’t care if you ignore the advice.
That’s all.
Brian
Bu Lai En is right. Just go home you idiot the world does not owe you any special favours. For the record, I don’t give a toss either.
Who gives a toss over who.If push comes to shuffle, its everyone for himself, yes.Cant believe people here are asking for info and when you help them, they dont believe you and want to tell you what to do.Now you feels like an idiot.Maybe its better to keep all your info to yourself and f… all the others.Maybe im overdoing it now,but as yous said,I feel a TOSS,so TOSS offffffff
Have you left yet?
The consensus of this thread seems to be that if you have overstayed you should leave quickly.
It’s not like the information is some kind of secret. As others have said, it’s a no brainer…why overstay your visa? I know exactly what day my visa expires. Come hell or high waters I will either have another visa before then or I will be in another country trying to get back into Taiwan (if that is what I want) there is no excuse short of death…in which case I doubt I will be very concerned about a visa. I too have no sympathy for people who overstay, work illegal and get caught or otherwise break the law. We all complain about the inconsistancies of Taiwanese laws but what kind of example are we setting when we always ask them to bend the rules for us?
I am overboiling with fury at the news of parasitic foreign waistrels overstaying in Taiwan. If I had my way they would have a finger amputated for every day they overstayed…so woe betide any who overstayed for 11. However I sympathise with Brian who doesn’t give a toss - why should he?
Lord Rick-Try Lord Dick-You must be taiwanese.Who do you think you are to talk about other people like that.(parasitic foreign waistrels).you stupid piece of sh…,you dont know the situations of some of the people thats overstaying,so f… you.
You xenophobic fuckwits. What happens to Taiwanese who overstay in our countries? Canada and the U.S. have tons of Taiwanese with expired visas running all over the place and does anything happen to them? At least our laws are clear and understandable and don’t change arbitrarily every time the legislature’s in session every six months.
Exactly. I had a Taiwanese friend who overstayed 6 years in the States. He was in grad school with his wife and she left him. He flipped out, dropped out of school and got a job as a janitor in a Chinatown (Los Angeles) hotel. When he got back to Taipei he started a small computer company and now does VERY well. He was not arrested, wasn’t forced to pay a large fine or taxes…nothing. And he’s been back to the States MANY times.
fucks sake the guys a troll guys…why even respond…
You are a troll and I claim my five pounds.
