Pain my my hip and leg

Woke up yesterday morning with a pain in my left hip. I have had this pain before and accompanying the hip pain is a pain (dull) in my left leg in the areas of my foot, calf muscle and up the back of my thigh. The pain does not seem to radiate or come from a single place of source.

I have always put this problem down to sleeping/lying at some strange angle. It usually goes away after I have been up walking around the place for a couple of hours. Today its still there. When I walk the pain is not there. When I drive or sit for a period of time the pain comes and goes

Wonder is it a pinched nerve? Do you go to see a chiropractor for this sort of thing?

Yeah…good idea to see a spine Doc on something like this.

Sounds like sciatica. See a doc.

Sounds like sciatica.
Sciatica is pain caused by general compression and/or irritation of one of five nerve roots that are branches of the sciatic nerve, and represents one of the most common forms of radiculopathy. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, and/or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes severe, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg. Typically, the symptoms are only felt on one side of the body.

Although sciatica is a relatively common form of low back pain and leg pain, the true meaning of the term often is misunderstood. Sciatica is a set of symptoms rather than a diagnosis for what is irritating the root of the nerve, causing the pain. This point is important, because treatment for sciatica or sciatic symptoms often will be different, depending upon the underlying cause of the symptoms. The first cited use of the word “sciatica” was registered in 1450.
