Pakis 'n' Iraqis

With Pakistan considering sending peacekeepers to Iraq, does the panel support the notion of sending “Moslem” (not necessarily “Arab”) troops to aid the so-called coalition in establishing greater security in the so-called sovereign state of Iraq? Indonesia is another possibility. What view do you think Iran wiil have on there being Pakistani troops under the aegis of The U.S., on either side of it and how, given Pakistan’s declared nuclear status, will it affect the speed (if any) of Iran’s nuclear (arms) development?

Indonesians and Pakistanis; that’s an awful lot of Sunnis with guns and a lot of potentially nervous Shias…

P.S. Wanted to post a poll but couldn’t. Why? :frowning:

I though we were barred from the ‘P’ word. As for this Moslem army thing, well it’s sad how if a non-muslim does somet to a muslim then all Islam gets the hump, but put them together by themselves and they start to kick the living shit out of their ‘brothers’. Bad idea I reckon.

(PS yes I know I am generalising, but look at Darfur to see it happening)

I am unaware of that but in mitigation I claim “artistic rhyming licence” and note that I did not use it again. Purely used for a snappy thread title. For the record, I am not racist and have a great deal of respect for the citizens of Pakistan.

‘P’ is for Poll, brownie, not 'Paki. Which you may know, damned if I can tell.

BTW, you are an unusually funny Englishman, imo. Glad da Boss saw fit to let you live. :notworthy:

   What a knob! I suppose that comes from posting a serious thoughtful and interesting post for a change. I must be suffering from an over-eagerness to be politically correct after last week’s rap over the knuckles. Well, sod that.

That’s like asking if we should have sent more Christians to Bosnia to smooth things over. If people are going to extremist measures of killing their own people, foreign soldiers who are there to keep them in line are not going to improve their attitude, even if they worship God under the same religion.

Well it could be a good public relations move if the Americans were able to convince other muslem states to come and send peacekeepers to Iraq, as it would make it seem to the world that even muslems are in favour of democracy and freedom and all the other rhetoric that flies out of that drunken texan christian extremist excuse for a US president’s mouth.

I do however think that it could make for some pretty bad relations among some asian and middle eastern states. It could and probably would cause a whole lot of social unrest in pakistan (which is already on thin ice in terms of the government’s control of the country) and in Indonesia (ie. “Bali revisited”)

I really do doubt that having muslem peacekeepers around will keep the insurgents from blowing stuff up in Iraq… As it is, 99 percent of all the recent bombing casualties have been muslem.
