Oh dear, looks like parler is actually a deep state, anti-Trump operation.
Social network Parler has allegedly hidden posts on its website that are tagged as #WriteInTrumpForGA. The hashtag is encouraging disgruntled supporters of President Donald Trump to write the president in rather than any candidate for the upcoming Senate Runoff elections.
The hashtag originated in a Super PAC with GOP ties. The Committee for American Sovereignty, connected to political consultant Roger Stone, launched a website calling for people to âHack the Runoff,â and write in Trump. The website states:
With enough write-ins in the Georgia senate race, we can tilt the balance in Georgia in Trumpâs favor! If we can do this, we have a real chance at getting these RINO [Republican In Name Only] senators to act on the illegitimate and corrupt election presided over by a Democrat party that is invested in the Communist takeover of Our Great Nation. We will not stop fighting for you, the American Patriot, against the evils of Socialism and inferior Religions. This is a Christian Nation and will be as long as we fight, together, for our sovereignty.
Interface is not as easy as the more popular social media sites.
Currently, itâs basically conservative politics who are posting what they already posted on Twitter.
I do think itâs positive that it doesnât appear to push suggestions on you - social media has generated a lot of problems by pushing users to more and more extreme positions and Twitter is (probably) the worst of the group. I would equate it to DuckDuckGo instead of Google that you have to know precisely what youâre looking for.
The area that I do give them credit is that most âfree speechâ social media platforms tend to devolve into a cesspool of people trying to figure out precisely what they can post. I literally havenât seen anything that is ban-worthy by even the most conservative standards. You would see far more racism, language, etc on the most mainstream feeds on other platforms and discussion here on this board is far more âconfrontationalâ than what they appear to have.
If they get about 20% more users - real people instead of media types - I think that it could be good.
Last year a few of my family & friends announced on FB that they were leaving FB for Parler. But they still posted their political crap and conspiracy theories on FB. Now they are announcing that they are leaving FB for Gab. Whatever
Your motivation to use Parler rests on the fact it was banned from google play? Ok.
Apple is threatening to remove it as well, whatever that means.
I find this kind of fascinating. I think part of the allure of Trumpism is the fact he gets âratingsâ and attention from the mainstream, on twitter, on news networks.
So him being on a much smaller, isolated pocket there, Iâm not convinced any kind of exodus to parler by his supporters is going to be very long lasting. Heâs not going to be stage center, and I think a lot of his fans revel in being part of the spectacle.
And then itâs not like heâs a guy with an actual ideology they follow, they can easily just find the next Republican closest to Trump who is covered mainstream to glom onto. But of course it still wonât be Trump, so who knows.
This is why I think whatever Trump is up to will fracture the party, people will be either all in on him, in his little ecosystem, or out of it.
