I have two sun conures. One was hand reared by me from 2 weeks old. The other I acquired at about 8 months old, but it was also hand reared. Both are extremely good natured and love human attention and interaction. They are flighted and I never want to see them with clipped wings.
Unfortunately my circumstances have changed drastically since I got them about 3 years ago. I went from being married and living in a large house, to being single and living in a small room.
While I dearly love them I just can’t provide the quality of life for them that I originally envisioned. They’re used to a lot of interaction, a lot of time out of their cage and almost always at least one person at home to take care of them. While I hate the idea of letting them go, it’s simply not fair on them to keep them.
I’m looking for a parrot owner who is experienced, loves and understands parrots, and is willing to give them the attention and space they need. If I can’t find anyone that I trust to take them, I’d be willing to place them somewhere like a zoo or other facility that has a large aviary where they can fly around with others of their kind.
