My friend is sending me their old PS4 as a gift from japan to me in Taiwan. Will I need to pay import fees?

People mark items as ‘gift’ all the time to avoid import customs but that’s normally on smaller items. Larger items especially in the obvious shape of a gaming console are more likely to attract attention but since it’s a genuine gift I believe you should be OK.

Can include a note/card inside stating its a gift in case you meet a grumpy postal employee.
Should also help that it’s not new…
