Paying US taxes while living in Taiwan (work for US company)

Haven’t checked this year, but in the past you couldn’t e-file at all if you had a foreign address on your return. You can still prepare your return electronically, but you will need to print it out and mail it in.

Looks like it indeed has changed. This year’s Publication 54 says that you can e-file using a foreign address:

I haven’t read through all the posts, but I think you also get extra two months to file automatically if filing from overseas. You should actually be in a good situation with the exclusion and credit for any taxes paid in Taiwan. And - I may be different from many others here - I’ve always found Taiwan taxes to be quite manageable and the experience pretty pleasant compared to the US. More than once I’ve had people at the inland revenue office save me money on my taxes.
