I’m just a beginner on the net but got some problems on my pc.I tried already to find a solution but got crazy.Everybody(with good intentions)come up with different suggestions and in the end i don’t know what to do anymore.I did already a lot of scans and updated everything, but still got problems. Some say i have to reinstall my wind.XP.But got the pc secondhand without any discs. Is there any reliable person who can help me out for cheap?Or anyone who i can use the xp cd’s from?
Thank you!!
But there’s copy protection. You have to contact Microsoft online to make your Windows XP last longer than 30 days. If you have the product key sticker on your computer, then you’re lucky. You just need a copy of XP, and it will be fine. Anyone can lend you their copy of their XP disk.
Thanks for trying to help me but need someone who can really help me out.Although it’s a good suggestion to get the disk from somebody or whatever. But who’s gonna do that?As i didn’t got much of reaction on my question yet.Hopefully some solution comes up!!

You got a solution you just don’t like it. I doubt anyone is going to let you use their legal, paid-for Microsoft software.
Blueface, you’re telling me i got a solution?Which one would that be?Oh,you mean buying the Mandrake Linux?Well,as i told you before i’m a beginner. So if you can tell me what it exactly is,this Mandrake, i’ll have a look at it.But i don’t have a clue at the moment what this Mandrake is.
Thanks!
I checked another topic where i found a recommandation to download AVG Free Edition,a virus-scanning program. My biggest problem was that sometimes strange things happened.I couldn’t finish my Norton-Antiv. scan anymore as well as my Spybot cause then the whole PC went down completely. The AVG program came up with a Trojan(or something like that),i don’t know what that is,but got it removed anyway.Do i have to do other things now?Do i have to check or there are files on my OS damaged? And how do i do that?
Thanks for the help!
It could be “Sasser”, shut downs your computer without any reason. I think you need a decent virus program. Clean up your machine then update your system with the latest patches from Microsoft. I heard the latest patches are for the security gaps at XP and may protect the computer from Sasser like worm, virus, trojan or whatever their names.

It’s an operating system…like Windows XP is an operating system…
If it goes down i mean it turns itself off completely(without any warning).
As i mentioned before i found a Trojan but do i have to check files on damage. The problem was that it turns off without any warning.Especially when i tried to do a Spybot and Not. Antiv.scan.I also got a problem with my Windows IE,but that’s another story.

Sounds like your power supply is dying, or your cpu (or mainboard) is going out the window.
Take it to a computer shop…unless you have something you want to keep secret on there!
A brand new Windows XP costs less than $5000. I was going to try to get a different OS, but in the end I decided it was worth it. Now that I have the disk, there’s a lot less hassle.
