Kazaa is giving me a bee in my bonnet. Does anybody use a different P2P to download music and vids?
yes, i use something different - but i think i’d be breaking the rules if i posted where to get it
da bien there are no rules on this forum!
no rules? seriously? there are rules about warez, aren’t there?
well, if i get banned, i’ll just use a proxy and make a new name
p.s. mods, please delete this if it is breaking the rules
::caution, this is not as easy as i make it sound::
i use mIRC - you can get everything from it
here are a some sites and programs you will need
www.mirc.com <-- download the mIRC software there, obviously
www.packetnews.com <-- to search for movies, mp3s, software of any nature
download daemon tools <-- use this to mount CD images on your HDD, instead of burning them onto CDs (and wasting a disc on bum downloads) (images e.g. .bin, .iso etc…)
download winrar or winace <-- everyone on IRC puts their files in archives
thats all the tools you need - next comes the know-how
easy…kind of…
first thing to do, start up mIRC to do some settings
file > options > DCC - set it to auto get and minimize and change the ignore feature to disable
go to packetnews
search for software
click the pack number # with the most gets, but try to find a small queue (if there is one) - that way the file should be better quality
it’ll start up mIRC for you
wait until you’re connected and in the channel
press CRTL V to paste, then enter
it’ll either send you the file or place you in a queue & send you the file later
next comes the fun of extracting and mounting images
sometimes you will get a file that is a .rar or .tar - you can use winace or winrar on these
other file may be .bin, .iso, .cue or other, you can use daemon tools on these or simply burn the image straight onto CD using Nero
(a cue is simply a text file telling the program where the image file is - use Nero on these files when you are burning, if you don’t have a .cue file, contact me via PM)
.rar .tar’s extended:
once you’ve extracted your .rar or .tar into a separate folder you may end up with many smaller files - don’t worry, it’s on purpose
find the .rar or .001 or what would be the first file and right click, open with winace or winrar, select the bin and cue files and extract them to another location
now you should have a .bin and a .cue
mount them with daemon tools
the software on the “CD” (virtual CD) will run just like a normal CD, and you can install - but make sure you read any readmes that came with the cracked software - because you may have to copy a cracked .exe file or a registry hack or something
that’s pretty much it
any questions, ask here (if this is not deleted haha… should sticky this!)
good luck
later
EDIT: here, made this webpage so everyone can just link it from now on

I wouldn’t worry about the rules. It used to be against the rules, but not anymore, and now this forum is full of “What’s the best way to commit piracy?” threads.
I’m the only one who seems to care about doing the right thing, so carry on, who cares what everyone thinks of Forumosa, or Taiwan ?..
so is free kazaa history then? i downloaded the free kazaar and it has bugger all on it…meanwhile kazaar lite seems to be being given the plank…
fast no problems
Do you get fries with that?
Do you get fries with that?
Do you mean English or American fries ?
Kazza lite is free!
yes kazaa lite is free…but i cant find a site that still has the download available…it seems to being phased out…like the look of that bearshare tho’ …jus’ rite 4 me innit?
I don’t know anything about piracy but I heard that there is a kind of plug-in for Kaazaa which makes it “lite”.
Alternatives might be available, too, but only for sharing your holiday photos of course.
Bearshare is great for all your pirating needs…
I think they still have a site. You just have to look harder for it. Google won’t list them because they are being sued by Kazaa non-lite.
Bearshare has much less selection than Kazaa.
I have a backup copy of the last version of Kazaalite (the self-installing exctractable). I can e-mail it to anyone who wants it after I get out of the office. PM me your e-mail address and make sure your e-mail box is big enough for the file!
Has anybody tried edonkey. I heard that more Asians use this program.

for newest Kazaalite
BFM, p2p doesn’t have to be used for piracy. I am now a fan of two great bands – Mary Prankster and Ma’s Folly – whom I first learned about thanks to the bands posting MP3’s.
Another p2p file-sharing utility is called DCPlusPlus, or DC++. Last time I looked, there was no centralized, organized database; it’s pretty much a question of finding things by luck. There is plenty of piracy going on with it – but also some hubs which keep to legitimately shared works.
Emule (another form of edonkey) is pretty good. You may not get too much download for first a couple hours but later your speed may reach 50-60Kbps depending on the piece you are getting.
I found Kazaa Lite by searching for it on Kazaa desktop and downloading it. Version 2.43 english. It works fine and seems much quicker for downloading that Desktop.
