i mean really: you’ve got a chance to work for The Don and you don’t make a good showing to him?
i can’t believe the stupid mistakes these people make. what’s more interesting is the excuses they find when they get canned and the totally narcisstic things they say.
of course, that makes good TV.
Hopeless a**-kissing MBA school wannabes.
Sadly, a very accurate portrayal of that sort of life.
Never seen it, although I have heard about it.
As with all “reality” TV, you have to wonder who the real idiots are - the clods disgracing themselves on the box, albeit with potential for vast financial upside, or the drones snickering at them in their lounge rooms.

I never saw any educational value in that show (I would probably make a bad businessman anyway, so don’t take my word for it) but it is entertaining at times. Some of the participants do say really embarassing things and not many seem to know when to keep their mouth shut or what to say and what not to say.

Actually I think the show is more about Trump and his ego than the participants.

How true. I wouldn’t mind seeing Stalones Boxing reality TV show though. Boxing seems to be a perfect fit for this kind of show. You can show grit, you can sledge, you can put up a good fight and we can embrace all the personalities.

Precisely. And the thread title is kind of redundant. They’re on a reality TV show – of COURSE they’re idiots. That’s one of the requirements for being picked. They’re not going to pick the smart, balanced, likeable person. How boring would THAT be to watch? No, it’s the flakes and dolts that they pick. Better ratings, more ad dollars that way.
Not all of them I would say. Maybe 50-70% or so, but there are IMO a few participants that are ‘smart, balanced, likeable’; those usually make it through to the end.
Dunno if the rest is really selected based on the entertainment factor, which is sometimes hard to believe given their good / excellent educational background, but then again you can have a good education and still be a dick.
I read Trump wasn’t happy with Season 3 where the producers turned it into studied people against street-smart people, and that season had lot’s of “entertainment”. However he prefers people with a proper educational background and supposingly he selected all but one participant for Season 4 himself.

I enjoyed this one too; The Contender!
Why people want to watch a bunch of arse lickers is beyond me. And that grey haired sidekick of his is just as big an arse licker as there ever was.
I don’t know much about Trump. He’s obviously very successful but anything “Rich and Businessy” doesn’t interest me in the slightest. It’s not the most captivating of programs, and I think it plays on what people want to be (trump with bad fake hair) as much as what other content the program has to offer.

yep… plus I believe it clashes times with Mythbusters, which would obviously be a crime
Word!
I noticed that the cab at the end that takes away the looser always has a Yahoo HotJobs ad on the top. You think that is some kind of paid advertising or do all NY cabs have the same ad ? :s

I don’t think they’re dumb. Here’s why.
Let’s say you select 20 successful, headstrong people with stellar educational and professional qualifications.
Then you make them do all kinds of impossible stuff every day for months.
And you provide an inadequate budget for the impossible stuff.
And you make them do the impossible stuff on an inadequate budget with a time limit of one or two days.
And you film them every second of every day and splice together all the dumb stuff that humans will do and say when they are under tremendous stress to do impossible things with no time and no money.
The Apprentice is a failure engine. It’s DESIGNED to make people screw up. That’s what it’s for.
Frankly, I am surprised that they succeed as well as they do under these conditions.
What’s the deal with Trump’s hair anyway? You’d figure with the cash that guy has, at least he’d get decent fake hair. It’s very bizarre.
Most of those reality based shows get a bit too catty for my tastes. Too much bickering. We get enough of that in real life, why the hell would I want to watch it on TV? I think some parts of The Apprentice are a bit scripted or edged in a certain direction as well.
That being said, I don’t mind The Apprentice, but I’d have to agree with the others who said The Contender is the shit. Good show.
i’d rather see some shit like that boxing match with donny osmond vs that danny partridge guy (i missed that show). i heard it was a great fight, and donny got his ass kicked.
It’s irony. Or should that be sarcasm? ![]()
Trump has built a brand, and is continuing to do so with the show. His name is for hire if you decide to build something.
There are plenty of Trump-buildings that he has no real stake in. Too bad for him you can’t rent your ego out…
I’ve always thought of it as one of the stupidest shows imaginable. In the few moments that I do take it seriously, I figure that most of the merchants down at the night market would whacks Donald’s team of business whizs.
It’s fake? I always assumed it was a comb-over!
I read his book a year or so ago, and he talks about people’s fascination with his hair. It’s real, just very badly styled.
