- Sidewalks that undulate like a heaving sea.
- Atrocious MRT service after 11pm - like only four trains an hour
- NO nightbus services (reason to keep all the taxis in employment)
- Bus services almost disappear after 11pm
- Restaurants that close at 8pm - talk about serving the customer
- Most foreign restaurants that serve a localised menu of dishes
- A tapas bar where the food is worse than even my abominable standards of cooking
- Starbucks coffee making a bad imitatation of delicious Italian espresso
- Traffic that races through pedestrian crossings only to come to an abrupt halt at the next red light - duh, are we stupid or what.
- Cars that park with their tail blocking your doorway and over a no waiting box - as if you wanted to get in/out of your own property.
- A bottle of beer costing sometimes twice as much in advanced cities such as London and NY.
- General lack of passion in the locals for just about everything except money.
- Shit ugly architecture that after a while don’t seem so shitty.
but at least there is a:
- 24hr Eslite bookshop
- 7/11 on every corner
- Nightmarkets and hotspring spas
- Mountains and coast within spitting distance.
- Friendly natives in Carnegies and the like.
- Cheap brandname sneakers at half the price elsewhere.
- Those dubious nightclub places which advertise booze and gurls.
- Taiwan beer - cheap and available everywhere.
- Huge turnover of establishments means that only the fittest (best) survive.
Anyone want to add…
