Have you guys ever had someone pretending to your phone carrier or bank call and sound exactly like it? I mostly don’t pick up my phone unless I know the number but I picked one up today and sounded Exactly like the taiwan mobile robot that transferred me to a person. I figured it out because my Chinese isn’t perfect on financial vocabs so to say and they kept trying to get me to pay for unpayed bills or something and you can tell they got really annoyed I didn’t get what they were saying haha. Crazy how authentic they sounded though, I wonder how much they scam from people who thinks it’s real.
This is when you play the “Two can play at this game” card.
How did it transfer you to a person? The classic presentation is they ask you to press 9.
yeah it like a robot voice that said “hello this is Taiwan mobile…press # to speak to a representative” in chinese.
Almost definitely a scam call. It’s a clever trick to screen for those most likely to fall for their pitch. There’s no robot in fact and the piece of human garbage is just sitting there waiting to hear that someone pressed the key.
Been getting a shitload of calls from singapore today. Different numbers every time.
Then one from Taichung. Maybe they forgot to use the Vpn for that one.
