Does anyone know where in Taipei I can find one of those booths that will take your picture in the required size for a US passport? The photo needs to be 2" x 2" (5cm x 5cm).
Do the photo booths at the place where you go for the ARC have this size as an option?
Thanks in advance.
IF this is for a US passport, I think you’re better off going to a photo shop and telling them this; I believe that the placement and size of the head in the picture is strictly regulated, not just the overall size of the photo. The photo shop just across the street from AIT, for instance, will know how to handle it.
Exactly. the ears have to be seen and then the angle of the face has to be X, not Y… go to a studio, and explain that it is a picture for US visa. You will save a lot of money and grief.
The one across the emabssy is reliable and know their stuff, but having that location they do tend to milk it. If you have a reliable studio near your home it might be more forgiving.
Yes there are certain guidelines. And photo booth pics wont work. I took my own . And i had to take dozens from slightly different distances to get the right head size and overall size.
If you’re going to AIT to get a new passport or something, right next door is a family mart with a photo booth and the photos are accepted at AIT.
There are also two photo shops across the street that will prepare photos for you while you wait.
It appears that you have not been here very long or you would know. No offense intended; we have been there. Don’t do the photo booth. Go to any photog studio that has a Fuji, Kodak, or other sign out front. Make sure you’re in the best of togs. Ask for passport size and you already gave the dimensions, Ask for passport size and they will know what you want.
They will sit you in the photo chair and take the pics; usually about 3.
I really do encourage you to where some some good clothes, good haircut, etc. They will take your pic in about 3 different poses. Just change it a little.
You will get card photos, I would tell them about 24 because, if you are going to be here a while, you will need that many and many more. They will give you the individual pics, cut to passport size, and a small CD with you pics on it so when you need to have more, you can easily get them. I have been here for over 10 years and Taiwan has more pictures of me than my mum. However, it’s nice that that Taiwan can see you in a suit and tie so do it appropriatley. Leave your dreadlocks behind along with your FCUK tshirt.
Look and and acks like a professional. You will go much further. On the other hand, the airport is near. Not kidding! Do it right or you wont last and you can have a smoke outside the airport whilst you wait for the flight. JMHO
