In order to create demand for kerosene in China, the Standard Oil Company (subsiduary called Socony), used to give away lamps which they called Mei Foo lamps. I am giving a talk on Thursday evening and a photo would be really useful! Does anyone have a source?

Although some Web sites put up technical hoops in the hope of preventing people from copying their photos, all pictures on visible Web sites can be downloaded – otherwise you’d never be able to see them on your computer.
If elektronisk’s photo doesn’t work for your needs, post the URL of the page with the photo you want and someone here can find the address of the image itself so you can copy it.
