I knew a guy who would just go into a piano shop and ask the owner if he could play for a while. The owner was happy to accomodate him. Pretty nice of the guy.

Actually if you’re half decent on the piano, that works out well for the shop owner too. Free piano demo person. Plus if you’re a foreigner, I can imagine customers thinking “Wow, if that FOREIGNER thinks that piano’s good, it MUST be!”

A lot of piano buxiban places will let you rent practice rooms pretty cheaply when the kids are still at school.

I knew a guy who stopped teaching English privates because he could charge 1000NT an hour for piano lessons instead.
