I made an error in one of my posts, and I’m correcting it here:

As far as I can tell, my great-great grandmother’s brother was sentenced to prison in the other “small part,” because he and, I guess, 3,000 others, participated in an attempt to take a New World colony away from a European power by force.

I was quite mistaken about the number of men involved in the attempt referenced above. The English-language Wikipedia article on it says that “several hundred men” were involved, and the Spanish-language Wikipedia article says that 420 men were involved.
