I think a couple of introductory statements on my part are in order:
First off, let me say that Iām not complainingāthis is not a complaint.
Secondāand I mean no offense by saying thisāI canāt help but express surprise that you donāt know what subset Iām referring to.
Now, to your question, and I want to re-emphasize that Iām not complaining and I mean no offense:
A lot of these more recent pic quizzes seem to meāat least initiallyāto be virtually insoluble, and that includes this most recent one. In the old days, I used to get some help from Google Image Search, or Bingās or Yandexās image search devices.
But the more recent onesāwhich I meant when I used the word āsubsetāādonāt seem to be susceptible to that kind of solutionāat least not for me. Again, Iām not complaining, because I can understand how someone might think that the kind of puzzle that could be solved using one of these image search functions would not be very challenging.
At any rate, I donāt think I could have solved these things unless someoneāsay, @Dr_Milker or some other exceptionally perspicacious playerāhadnāt already answered one or two of the questions. In fact, Iām pretty sure that Iāve even taken advantage of the role of āTail-End-Charlieā on a good proportion of these games. That is, some of my answers were provided after someone else had gone most of the way toward solving the puzzle.
Well, still, Iām glad youāre around for these things. I think that left to my own devices, Iād be virtually clueless on about half of themāmaybe on most of them.
Edited to add: Your participation also encourages me to try to improve my thinking skills about the game. It makes me try harder. What I sometimes wind up doing is abandoning the thing, and then, later on, compulsively coming back to it.
I have barely time to do this game to begin with, so I donāt really think much of what or what not might be a good image. I just randomly pick a location, then look for an interesting scene in that location, and then ask a bunch of questions. The first to give me the chance to get a lucky point. The rest a mix of āknowledge about the worldā questions, and a few anyone can try to guess with a bit of luck. Like, how many types of restaurants of restaurants are there really? I am always there to give hints anyway, so as long as people are playing, these games are all easy to figure out. The main problem has always been that not enough people are interested in playing. So for me itās just a fun way to virtually get to places around the world without thinking too much.
I like your work on this game. It makes me think harder. And then, if I figure it out, itās rewarding. Itās even helpful if I donāt figure it out. Then I can learn by observing those who did figure it out.
Ditto here. Iām glad our dear leader can still find the time to put up a quiz every once in a while. And I appreciate the level of difficulty. With the pics being less susceptible to the various image finders, I have to use more deductive reasoning and make educated guesses, which makes the whole experience more enjoyable. Keep up the good work!
I know the answer, or I think I do. In fact, it seemed so obvious that I wondered whether it was a trick question.
Iām so old that I think we may have learned about that in school while it was happening. Elementary? Junior high school? High school?āI donāt remember which. Maybe all three, because to borrow from William Blake, āEternity is in love with the productions of time.ā
I think it involved a certain amount of controversy, too (thanks to Wikipedia for reminding me). And there was some valuable stuff that needed to be moved (although I donāt remember whether all of it could be moved).
I actually tried that one out. It starts really easy but gets hard at the higher levels. The time element makes it challenging. Your quizzes are still better though.
