Oooh! I likee!

Like the swingarm and dual exhaust and the rear lights, reminds me of the classic 998 design. Hate the front, looks like every other Japanese bike, doesn’t distinguish it as a Ducati. Even though the 999’s front looked weird, there was no mistaking it for any other bike except a Ducati. This bike from the front looks like a cross design from the Honda CBR 600RR, Yamaha R6, and the Triumph 636. Not saying if some gave me one I would complain.
hmm… i personally LIKED the 999… because it was different from everything else…
hmm… aprilia has a new 200hp V out… but they haven’t put it into a bike yet… will be interesting to see…
… and while the CBR600RR is now a lightweight at only 155kg…
personally, i’m likin’ the cagiva mito 500… 500cc single, 60bhp, 50Nm, 133kg :o

well, its not baaaad… but it’s not as good as some ducatis have been. for some reason, the side panels remind me a bit of the slab-sided SS series from the 90’s, the top and front a little of the later 999… now that was one ugly yet distinctive bike. i much preferred the first generation 916. voted bike of the year, bike of the century, etc… one of the few bikes in the guggenheim musem as an art work, as well as shitting all over the hondas and suzukis for the first few years in superbikes… before they decided that, if you can’t beat them, join them with a monster torquey V-twin. still have very fond memories of carl foggy at philip island. laying big black lines from castrol corner, hanging off the bike over the front axle to keep both wheels on the ground and stop understeering on full power out of corners. awesome!
wish mick doohan had the chance to ride a duc
meanwhile, vote on these:
my faves are the 916 or the supermono derivative of it. basically half a 916 but bigger stroke. 81HP, enormous torque, and weighs only 242lb (110kg)!! they only made a couple of hundred of them for supersingles racing, and were pretty competitive with the huskies, but did not dominate the class.
and how about the concept supermotard? (at least i think it is still only in concept stage).
or if you can’t find a 916, how about an earlier cagiva mito? 125cc, 200kmh plus of stroker madness. and a seven speed gearbox as i recall to keep it in the powerband. should be legal as a small bike here!!! and as an added bonus, it’s also very red… red is faster of course.
