As promised and on popular request … images of the 2008 Pingxi sky lantern release … although the day started sunny we had some rain in the higher elevations of Pingxi in late afternoon, but luckily it stayed dry once the release started off …

Stupid me was in Taipei this morning but forgot about the release in Pingxi, so left early to head back south. Do you know if there’s anything on next weekend?

I know it’s difficult to know about events in Taiwan … but we old hands know what will happen, just not when, so we ask around for the exact date … even I don’t know everything
I heard yesterday that you can find programs about events in the libraries and other places in Taipei or on the internet …
kk. i’ll check the library. a few friends have passed along websites, but they’re usually for bars, etc.

… also in one of my posts I made public that I would go to Pingxi …
Today there was a small release (about 400 lanterns), yesterday 2,000 … and next Thursday again 2,000 …
Sadly enough not next weekend.
And I really underestimated the difficulty of photographing sky lanterns … especially the red and dark colored ones …
Yes you did. I blame it on going out to a party and not getting to sleep until 3am and then getting woken up at 7am by the people in the hotel room next to mine having very noisy sex. Good thing I didn’t drink any alcohol last night - 4 hours sleep and no hangover was bad enough.
Lucky you, I had a dehydration hangover this morning … stupid me, didn’t drink from the time I left Sanxia (02:00PM) until I got back home from Pingxi (11:00PM) … major headache until this afternoon … in and out the bed until 11:00AM and the dogs didn’t really help …
if you cant fight them join them??
