Pinyin in Google Maps gone?

No more pinyin on gmaps?

I’ve had a good run anyway.

I heard maps.me works in China. Google Maps doesn’t.

Google maps works fine in China if you are roaming on an overseas SIM card, doesn’t work on local cards unless you’re VPN’ing.

They also have some locations available to download and use offline.

Well, no reply on the twitter and the reddit threads died. Not sure what to do to followup other than ask everyone to send in complaints via any means they have

uhmmmm… I thinking that you can try to set the language in some parameter in the URL.

Luckily, I am not too dependent on the Pinyin.
If you want to give them some real bothersome feedback, right click random parts in the map and report a data problem. Then tell them each time that the Pinyin is missing.
Especially women can sent that at night claiming to be lost.

that said. i will make sure i download the regional offline map while th pinyin is present!

Can try the Maps.Me app. Totally offline and they’ve made some nice updates to it. Also, their pinyin has the tone/accent marks.
