Place names in Taiwan, will they be changed?

Changing everything to Hanyu Pinyin or any other romanisation system will not guarantee that foreigners will pronounce place names correctly, unless they’ve learned the proper way to read it; but having one standard will certainly make things a lot less confusing. I can’t imagine being able to give my parents directions to my house when every street’s name is written differently at each intersection (Daxue Rd, Ta hsyue lu, Da shiue lu, etc), and something else on the maps (I believe my Lonely Planet book lists it as “Du sing road”).

SIN dian does have a bit of notoriety to the name
