@throwawaymyjob find out if it is mandatory or not. Then make your decision. If however everyone that goes learns a critical skill you need later, then you’ll need to develop that skill on your own with your own money.
Companies have started paying employees hourly so that they can work 7 days. The reason it was watered down is to stop the trend from salary secure work to hourly work. It was the correct move in the long term.
The fight for rights of employees is long and tough. You need to keep a long term perspective and not get drawn into the arguments over what’s happening now. Try understand what the long game play is.
