The polls are a good idea, but as the one about the local English-language newspapers shows, not enough people vote to make it even close to representing anything statistically.
My suggestion is to include the polls in the Monday e-mails to members. If recipients could just read the question and click their choice, I think you might be able to get a fairly healthy representation.
