POPEYES was coming, now it's here!

The bomping music seems to be intended to:

a) evoke New Orleans, the origin of this joint; and

b) move you along to your next stop so you don’t spend all day there.

In addition, welcome to the club of forumosans who have actually been to this shop!

Food: sandwich is really good. Way better than America. Fries are about the same, maybe a bit crispier (I remember them being quite soggy back home

Qr ordering: what a mess

it is, but my only point of reference was HK (which was garbage).

it should be made illegal

The music is the best, way better than the corny Taiwanese songs.
I really like their chicken sandwich in Taiwan, I’ve tried only once before outside Taiwan and was so much worse.

Jazzy version of “wasn’t me” by shaggy

Its cringe!

I am willing to overlook / disregard the music to get my hands on one of their spicy chicken burgers.

Mouthfeel, texture, flavour . . . why are those things so good. :joy:

Most restaurants make it their business to play the worst music they could get their hands on. Muzak sounds better sometimes.

Fat, and sugar, and salt.

The reason they taste so good.

Sorry I can’t hear you, the music is quite loud here in Popeyes. :upside_down_face:

I love the music. It’s a New Orleans - Grambling thing. If you’re ever in New Orleans, you’ll get it. (Avoid Mardis Gras but order a King cake)

What a city! It’s one of a kind.

Finally made it to Popeye’s today. I never order deep fried chicken sandwiches because, as we say: bread with bread, food for morons. Due to the hype I made an exception. It was good, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy the chicken alone more. I’ll try that next time.

The first fry was very good, but once I bit the sandwich the rest of the fries just tasted normal.

Biscuit/scone was a bit dry. Kind of okayish for an industrial one.

It would have been a much better meal with a beer. There’s a park nearby, so nothing that a take out can’t solve.

Good review.

I don’t think the fries are really needed—just more starch. I like Popeyes’s cole slaw (I almost typed “@slawa” lol) option for the contrasting textures and mouthfeel. It’s also probably not a bad idea to actually thown some veggies into the mix once in a while. :joy:
