For years I’ve been under the impression that poppy seeds were illegal in Taiwan. The other day I saw poppy seeds (California poppies) being sold at a hardware store. Does anybody know more about the legality of planting poppy seed in Taiwan? Thanks
They will lose their shit. Don’t do it.
For a long time, they were not available to bakers, but now they are, at DIY baking supplies. FWIW.
California poppies aren’t opium poppies. But even opium poppies are routinely grown as ornamental garden plants. But maybe they’re illegal here. California poppies shouldn’t be.
Even if they are California poppies, don’t do it. They recognize the plant and have a real hard on about it.
If they sell the poppy seeds in the bakery, then use those for food. I’d strongly suggest you not grow any though. All it takes is one person and then the police will turn your shit upside down.
C’mon, its November 11. How can you have a thing against poppies, today of all days?
The poppy seeds available for food use are most likely heated to kill them. Germination rate will be low, i’d wager. But go ahead and grow some on your balcony to find out. Please let us know how you get on.
I was thinking the same thing, and passing that requirement is probably what finally allowed them to be brought in.
