Anyone can give implicit or explicit permission for a demonic spirit to enter their lives and exercise control over them, even a hand-picked disciple of Jesus. Free will is absolute.

Matthew 26.1-5

22 The Festival of Thin Bread, also called Passover, was near. The chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus, because they were afraid of what the people might do. Then Satan entered the heart of Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve apostles.

Judas went to talk with the chief priests and the officers of the temple police about how he could help them arrest Jesus. They were very pleased and offered to pay Judas some money. He agreed and started looking for a good chance to betray Jesus when the crowds were not around.

But this passage was before the resurrection isn’t it?

The Holy Spirit is permanent once you believe. So god and demonic spirits don’t mix. So I do not believe a believer can be possessed because they would have the Holy Spirit after the new covenant was made with the sacrifice of Jesus.

One can invite demons into their lives, be tormented by demons, or be tempted. But not possessed as a believer.

Yes that’s correct. They can be around and affect ones life as a believer; such as torment , temptation, or be in people around you , but not totally possess a true believer. There are many who claim to be Christians but in fact are “Cultural Christians” too.
It depends whether or not you believe “Once saved always saved.”
