I’ve been told that getting one of these now requires two valid forms of ID, so I’d have to have an ARC before I could use one. Is this correct? or can I just walk into a 7-11, buy one, and activate it with no hassle?
If the prepaid cards now require ID, would anyone be willing to get (and activate) one for me?
If they don’t, could someone tell me how to go about buying and activating one?
I have the phone already, BTW. It’s a Nokia, not sure of the model number, and the display is in Chinese.
Unless it recently changed, I don’t think so. I got my phone and FarEasTone SIM card back in October, and they didn’t ask me for anything. But like I said, maybe it did in fact change recently.
Someone hooked me up this afternoon. However, it’s some sort of semi-dodgy deal where they forward the call through another network. Not sure if it’s strictly legal or not, but at least it’s not NT$60/minute to call the US.
I just went through the same thing. FarEastOne pre-paid SIM card bought at the 7-11. They did want my passport and driver’s license. It was up and running within the hour.
It’s a good thing if you need to receive calls and SMS. $$$ as heck to call out
