Deterrence. US does not want war. The US is having to deter and fight battles because there are clandestine operations to bring down the U.S. and its Allies by major foreign powers — like China — that have been going on for 70+ years.
This notion that the US is some kind of war monger looking to make the next big buck on a new war is really misguided, and probably originating from Axis propaganda.
