wasn’t Colin Powell the guy that said there were WMDs in Iraq…this guy just endorsed Obama

HG, you are setting yourself up for a huge letdown if you think Obama will be the one to save the world.

Powell wasn’t alone in misleading the country. Bush had a hand in it.

Nobody’s claiming Obama will “save the world”, but he’ll do far more good than McCain will ever be capable of doing.

Compare the Clinton years to the Bush years. I much prefer the peace and prosperity of the Clinton years to the war, economic mishandling and disappearing liberties of the Bush years. We have a choice: continue on the course Bush set for us, or move away from it toward something better.

He was ordered to say so by his Masters. Then when he dared think for himself, he was kicked out of the administration. The Republican leadership don’t tolerate anyone who disagrees with them.

Powell, a clear-thinking and intelligent individual with moderate politics (which has always made me wonder why he chose to be a Republican), has come to his senses politically and is backing the candidate who is best for America and the world.

Yes, but so did Hillary Clinton and John McCain

“Iraq both poses a continuing threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region and remains in material and unacceptable breach of its international obligations by, among other things, continuing to possess and develop a significant chemical and biological weapons capability, actively seeking a nuclear weapons capability, and supporting and harboring terrorist organizations.”
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, February 5, 2003

“After 12 years of economic sanctions, two different arms-inspection forces, several Security Council resolutions and, now, with more than 200,000 American and British troops at his doorstep, Saddam Hussein still refuses to give up his weapons of mass destruction.”

The only one of them all who hasn’t is Obama.

Most leaders genuinely believed Iraq had them, whether because of a mass delusion, or the way they interpreted the evidence.

Iraq was a threat, there is no doubt about that, but how to contain the threat was the question. With sanctions killing thousands of Iraqis every year and politicians getting rich on the oil for food program there were compelling reasons back and forth for the invasion. Though I believe Bush and co exaggerated the threat to justify an invasion they wanted no matter what, other thoughtful people, such as Powel, were left with debating which was the better of two terrible choices.

Chris, if you think Bush is a baby killer then what does that make Clinton and other western leaders, whose sanctions disproportionally killed young Iraqis without producing the slightest effect toward making them freer?

LA Times- liberal paper, but first endorsement in 30 years
Houston Chronicle- first Democrat since LBJ
Chicago Tribune- of the famous “Dewey Defeats Truman” headline -first time in the paper’s 161 year history it’s backed a Democrat

Bah! Commie fish wrap, surely!

Al-Qaida knows that if McCain gets elected, they will be history. John McCain knows how to defeat terrorism. He knows how to capture Bin Laden. So Al-Qaida says that they would like him to win, because they know that if we think that they think that McCain should win, then we won’t vote for McCain. But what they don’t know is that we know that that’s what they want us to think. Two moves ahead baby!

Bin Laden’s smart enough to know that a McCain win would be a boon for al-Qaeda recruitment and would increase anti-Americanism around the world. He knows McCain will not pursue him, just as Bush refuses to pursue him, because the GOP and al-Qaeda need each other to further each one’s causes.

I’m half expecting bin Laden to release a tape in which he falsely praises Obama as one of his Muslim brethren in order to influence the vote toward McCain. This is also one reason why I’m glad so many people are doing early voting.

Unless that is what he wants you to think. Anyway, I really hope they don’t blow up innocent people to try to influence the election.

Well, if they know that we know that they want us to think the opposite then they know that we know they are thinking this, in which case we need to think 3 steps ahead and know what they know regardless of what we know and that of course is that Obama is going to win so let’s have some fun while we can.

No, that’s what he wants us to want him to want us to think. No, wait… Oh never mind…

Dammit, you’re confused. The terrorists are winning!

If Al-Qaeda says anything public about the US election, it won’t be for American consumption - IMHO.
