I (german) married last month and it seems that it is a pain in the ass to have a german passport.
We are happy to go through everything now, but again we face a problem which I never ever thought
could be a problem.
We have weddding certificates in both chinese and english. I thought I just have to send the english one
to the german office in taipei for legalization and that’s it …
But my german clerk is so crazy, she insists to send the chinese one to taipei, and back in Germany I have
to get a translation into german, a notification about that etc.
I thought it would be because of the english-language, as in germany just german is an officially goverment
language. I thought german people getting in the USA, getting an english wedding certificate issued, may
then face the same problem then, but
HER GIVEN REASON JUST DRIVES ME CRAZY !!!
She says she just can accept the original wedding-certificate and on the english one there is a small note on
the top of the paper, which says >>translated copy << … … >> hence this is NO original for her at all !!!
I am sure here are MANY foreign people married to taiwanese. Did you have a similar problem if you register
your marriage in your homecountry ?? Unfortunately I have to register to get an JFRVisa, but because of her
stupid thinking we talk about 5.000 NT$ basically for nothing …

You didn’t make this clear, but I will assume you got married in Taiwan. If so, then to get a JFRV granted you will need to register your marriage in your home country. For many Westerners there is no formal household or marriage registration system back home, so most of us can skip this step. If you are unsure, BOCA has a list of which countries need to fulfill this requirement.
I will assume that Germany has such a system. You will then need to find out exactly what is required to register your foreign marriage in Germany. You will need to find out from the German government or from other Germans how this is done in Germany. Basically the end result is that you need to obtain a certificate which says that your marriage is registered or legally recognized as valid in Germany, and you will then need to get it authenticated by the Taiwan representative office responsible for wherever your certificate is issued from. If the certificate is not in English or Chinese then you will need to attach a translated copy.
If you want specific advice on what exactly needs to be done then you will need to ask other Germans, your government, or BOCA on what exactly is required to register a marriage in Germany.
