I’ve got another problem with my work permit application through my employer. I’ve got an “IHK Abschluss/Facharbeiterbrief” which is basically a vocational training or certificate of proficiency. The CLA says officially that with this kind of certificate I need to provide 5 years working experience. The problem is that the CLA suddenly says they don’t know what it is and I have to have a university diploma. My company of course don’t know what to do. So I explained to them the situation and they going to try to explain to the CLA.
Could anyone give me a proper translation in Chinese? I guess they just work with someone at the CLA who doesn’t know anything… any Germans with a working permit based on a vocational training certificate? Thanks in advance!
職業學校 (zhíyè xuéxiào) is the right term for “senior vocational school” (german: Berufsschule) and it also exists in Taiwan.
You can get it translated by anyone then get the orginal notarized (german: beglaubigt).
To get the translation and original notarized you need to send it to the consular service of Taiwan in Germany.
I don’t know if notarizing the original would be the job of the IHK (German Chamber of Commerce) which gave you the certificate or the school you went.
I doubt the AHK (IHK’s foreign representation) in Taiwan can help.
You should contact (email) the consular service Taiwan in Germany and ask, depending where you are from, how to get that specific document notarized. taiwanembassy.org/ct.asp?xIt … 07&xp1=107
Above is the road I took with any legal documents (marriage certificates, work certificates, diplomas, etc).

Don’t know if the CLA is judging that vocational school is counting towards the ‘5 years experience’ (its just 3 years anyhow?)
Maybe you get out of the 5 years rule with a specific diploma (foreign super talent) aka Taiwan’s DSDS.
Maybe just marry a local, get the JFRV then an APRC after 10 years? Seems to be the path most people took.
thanks so much. I’ve got 7 years experience including the 3 years berufsschule. I have a certified English translation but they just don’t get it. I will tell them the Chinese word for it. Thanks again… I will share what’s going on… .it really is kinda annoying cause every week they come with something new. First everything seems to be ok, then they want 5 years instead of just 2 and now that.
Work experience only counts post graduation and any as part of obtaining your quaification is not counted. So you would have 4 years post graduation. They look at your graduation date from your education and count from that as far as I am aware.

well it seems you are going to be right… they argue with that right now… it seems I won’t get a working permit… I will keep everyone updated…

I had the same question some time ago and I sent an e-mail to the Embassy of Spain in Taiwan, since we have the same kind of vocational school in Spain. This year I’m finishing the second course (and the last one) and I’m going to have some internships, so I asked them about my certification translated into chinese, and they said the following:
(Note that I asked if it was possible for me to access directly to the uni with that certification, but they talk about the validation, so it’s the same case as yours)
"If you want to apply to a taiwanese university then you need to validate your vocational school’s certification at the Economical and cultural office of Taipei in Madrid.
Since the original name’s translation for your certification is complicated for some cases, what you describe us as “Senior vocational industrial high school” in chinese would be the next: 高級工業職業學校 "

well I made 2 more years up, I traveled one year so I had no real job and one year was for military service… nobody knows that… so easy to get a friend who has a company back in Germany to make me two letters …seems it is working, haven’t heard anything yet from the department or my boss…
I see… Well as engerim said above seems like in Taiwan exist those kind of schools; the guy from the embassy told me as well, so we shouldn’t have too many problems to validate it (the reality is different though) . I hope you can get some news from the department of your boss soon; anyway… it’s supposed that you’re working right now, so… why do they ask about the certification right now and not at the beginning? I certainly don’t understand the situation too much, probably because I don’t know what is CLA (sorry for my ignorance xd), is it some taiwanese institution?
I am about to give up…now they want detailed information about what I did in my previous jobs. I’ve job descriptions but that isn’t enough. Now they want me to proof the equivalency of my IHK certificate to a US degree… I better find another job for three months…save some cash and bye bye…it seems easier to immigrate to Canada than getting a work permit in Taiwan…
sorry, you “made up” 2 years, so basically you are cheating, and now you are complaining about the way, Taiwan authorities are handling your case ?

do they know that I made up 2 years ? No! I guess they just want to keep the foreigner rate in non teaching positions low. What do you do for a living MoTi, teaching? I’ve got a job everywhere I went with my education and Taiwan is the only country giving me a hard time. At least I got a “working experience” and I can live with 48k …most of the English teachers without any qualification besides a degree “wouldn’t even wake up” for that… I even spend most of my money in Taiwan …so they even get it back…
A hard time, you should be lucky they don’t check and charge you with forgery and immigration fraud and give you a few years in jail. You are the type of foreigner that causes problems for legitimate people. I am surprised the CLA doesnt check other things more carefully. Bragging on a few separate forums about your working in Australia in a packing shed then doing military service and faking that time as part of your work experience for your work permit? Maybe the CLA read forumosa nowadays to get an idea what people are doing. Anyways it’s all illegal so why are you complaining about it. If I was you I’d leave Taiwan before they really do check your background and you find you are wanted by the police.
No they are not trying to give equivelancy to your IHK to any US degree. You claimed you have the work experience and now you have to back that up. Did you not consider that they may verify if you are really qualified for the postion you are seeking? I don’t know why you would be so upset after all, you admiited trying to rort the system, and I guess you will just claim you were following others advice.
