From what I’ve read, because these 2 cereals have long shelf lives, they are both (ultra?) processed. Can anyone recommend a good healthy, ready-to-eat breakfast cereal that can be eaten simply by adding cold milk? Please, no hot oatmeal suggestions. Thanks
Processed food has been getting some bad press lately…
You should be fine with these - I assume the long shelf life is driven by the ingredients being dry and shelf stable (oats, raisins, etc.).
My go-tos for cereals are Cap’n Crunch, Froot Loops and Frosted Flakes. Real good with milk, but people tend to label them unhealthy these days.
I agree. In the context of processed cereals, they definitely look to be toward the healthier side of the spectrum.
…and there’s the other end of the spectrum.
I have mixed those two together. Works quite well. But I’m preferring Weetbix nowadays, because my dentist warned me to avoid hard nuts. It’s not an idle warning either, since Granola cost me a lot of pain and discomfort on one molar that need replacement. LOL! I can laugh now.
In my opinion, grains are not healthy for breakfast. Unless you have a labor intensive job and need the energy, most people can skip breakfast anyways.
Thanks all. I’ll stick with this regimen.
