Question about Enrollment in elementary school in New Taipei City

Okay, I see.
There are different rules for kids with no Taiwanese nationality. I didn’t know that.

update for today, went to public kindy aforementioned above, they just told me no more vacancy, as expected.

went to private kindy, also full,… sad…

@tando, i have a little bit concern about public elementary school enrollment next year, do they have similar rule like pre-school / kindy regarding child’s nationality?

Did you check the website?
If there’s any school (public and non-profit) with vacancies, you can see it there. Easier than go asking one by one

I don’t see it on the website? It may have been mistranslated to English. Can you pinpoint? Thanks.

A list of schools expected to be full is announced , and they give priority to kids with HHR in their school districts. If a school becomes full actually, kids who cannot get in will be distributed to nearby schools. If all schools in the area are full, they temporarily increase the capacity of schools in the area for the year.

I cannot find a list of vacancy, but you can check here one by one. In Chinese.

Correct, that’s what I meant.

i didn’t check all schools, only the one i visited on 05/23 to confirm their vacancy, it seems the date mentioned for foreigner to check vacancy just giving foreigners false hope especially if they live in a busy district.

how does it work? by what condition they will distribute the kids? what about foreigner like me again?
sorry for asking so many question, any website that I can access?

If you go to the link @tando shared, you can filter by district and see the schools closer to you.
Perhaps there’s one which you didn’t even know about and that has vacancies.

checked already from 05/23 actually, all of them are full.
fyi, they allow enrollment for 3 yo, all filled up quickly, no chance for my child.

Have you tried checking different districts but that are still close to you?
I live in Sanxia and there are some schools here which still have vacancies.

i can’t enroll my child beyond my district, that’ll need too much effort.
thank you for your concern anyway.

they will assign some nearby schools for each school supposed to be full. Kids who don’t meet the conditions to be accepted, maybe including foreigners, will choose one from the assigned schools.

I say maybe, because school principles can accept foreign kids by their discretion, iirc and the regulation is not changed, but most schools may apply the same rules to foreigners with local kids.

Foreign kids should submit an additional application form to school, though.

This is a Taipei 's instruction, but I guess the process is the same in NTC.

I see, seems they hold similar regulation for it, only they have much larger capacity compared to pre-school / kindergarten.

what kind of document? residence permit? is it not the same as ARC?
