Question about multiple entry visitor visa

Ok, so I’ve searched the forums and haven’t found an answer to this particular question about the 60 day, multiple entry visa. I understand the visa is valid for sixty days, with a maximum extension of 180 days, but my question is, is 180 days the absolute max you can spend in Taiwan per year, or can you leave and re-enter as many times you want for 60/180 days (extended)? My visa is valid for one year, and I’ve heard different things. Some people say I can only do three stays of 60 days per year (or one stay for 180 days per days), while others have told me I can stay for as many 60 day visits as I want. Hope my question makes sense… Thanks!

No.

180 days is the longest you can stay without leaving and coming back. Remember you also need a valid reason for extending, too, such as studying Chinese 15 hours/week in a government recognized school. Otherwise, you leave and re-enter every 60 days, which is probably cheaper than paying for Chinese classes.
