Question-Spouse work permit

Hi: Dear all:

I’ll go to Taipei soon to work as a Post-doc. My wife and I are both Canadian citizenship.
But we both speak Mandarin. ( We were born in China).
My Question is : Is it easy for my wife to get a job in Taipei? Which kind of job can she apply?
I’ll have a work permit. My wife will come as a spouse. I understand she can not work as
a spouse. Can she apply for a work permit by herself?

Please provide more details on your (upcoming) visa status and the details of your work permit arrangements. Who is the employer? What is their superior government agency? (i.e. Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economics, or what … )

Will you be living in Taipei, Chiayi, or where?

Thanks! My employer is Academia Sinica, in Nankang, Taipei.
My visa will be residency visa.

If your wife has Canadian citizenship and a university degree from a university outside of China, she can probably apply for an English teaching job. If she’s not a native speaker, though, it’ll be tough…
