Quietish beach in Thailand

I’m going to Thailand for a 10 days of R’n’R just before Chinese New Year and am looking for suggestions where to go.

I’m flying into Bangkok but can travel so thats not a problem.

I’m looking for beaches somewhere quiet(ish), but busy enough to have a night out nearby, somewhere to play football on the beaches, bit of swimming/watersports, not concerned about diving, that’s pretty much it really.

I have used the search function but didn’t find anything useful.

On Koh Samet the beaches get progressively quieter as you head toward the south of the island (twenty minutes max on a bike/taxi, or a one-hour walk along the beach over rocks).

We stayed a little further than midway down, which was quiet, cheap and nice, and we could get quieter beaches or bars and football in a short walk or taxi ride either north or south.

Me liked.

I am also thinking of the exact same type of holiday. I searched and found this: forumosa.com/taiwan/viewtopi … ght=Phuket

Sounds like a nice place.

Thanks for the replies.

I was considering Koh Chang, how would you compare that with koh samet?

Not been to either, but a very good friend with a long history of living and working in Thailand (PhD in Thai literature to boot) swears by Koh Samet.

Among the places I have been, Ko Lanta or Kho Phangan - in particular Haad Yao - long beach - can’t be beat.
