Quitting a Buxiban

I’ve milled over lots of threads on here over the past few days about people wanting to quit their horrible Buxiban jobs and NOT completely ruing their chances of staying in the country. The most I’ve found regarding the topic is “quit your job and the government will ask you to leave”. Is there any way to find a new job (before quitting the old one of course) and not risk deportation? Is there a method to this?

It’s not me personally but rather my girlfriend that signed a contract a place with a terrible manager who harasses on a daily basis. We live here now and would probably have no problem finding her a new job. But I just want to pick the brains of experienced Forumosans to know what our best options are in terms of not facing legal/governmental action.

Thanks!

  1. Find a new job and get it added to the ARC first.
  2. Do the paperwork to get the sponsoring employer changed to the new employer.
  3. Resign from the first company, and pay whatever penalties outlined in the contract.

I did something similar, although i had 3 years under my belt at the original company and was resigning just before the end of the 3rd contract, so they didn’t ask me to pay any penalty. You can find details on the process on Tealit.

If your gf quits her job before getting a new sponsoring employer, she is not going to be “deported”, but she would have to leave and re-enter under another status.
