TRC plans on cutting their Child Disability ticket discount which offered a 75% discount with the upcoming fare price hike. Previously TRC absorbed the cost of the discount, but despite massive declines in number of people using this ticket they still plan on cancelling it.
This was announced today, June 21st, and this discounted ticket will no longer be offered in two days..starting June 23rd.
Encouraging people to have kids, eh.

TRC bringing back the platform tickets that let you through the gates onto the platform. Some stations still had it, but now it is being brought back to all stations. NT$22 for a platform ticket.
Back in my day we would buy a platform ticket to jump on the next train that came by going in our direction and buy a ticket onboard when the conductor came by as he or she often did . The 2 nt is credited to your fare which is the same but you don’t get a seat so you have to seat surf. Sit somewhere anywhere you find a seat till a person assigned to that seat kicks you off
You go find another
Most if not all the time you end up standing unless it was a ‘normal’ train which had no assigned seats anyway
But you made the train . It’s very useful when you don’t have time to get in line to buy a ticket
Used to do that going to fulung to the beach
Trains came by only every two hours or so thus making the train was a priority
