RC Cars

Hey all,

I am interested in RC cars, off road racing specifically, and was wondering if any foreigners race here in Taiwan specifically in Taipei/Taoyuan or a little more south. I have my own transport so it won’t be too much of a problem to travel.

Are there foreigner friendly leagues here and where are the tracks they use?

I’ve only seen areas along the river where people go as groups and hang out and play in the grass with RC, but I’ve never seen a real track or organized area in Taiwan.

There are places and clubs for RC planes, but haven’t seen much on RC cars. Haven’t even seen high quality RC cars other than the cheap ones that are found around shopping areas.

I’m also interested.

There are some pretty nice tracks by the riverside bike paths in Taipei. I’ve seen at least two of them, but I know there are more than that. My information is old, but in the past I have seen one by the Taipei Zoo, and another on the Banqiao side of Wanban bridge that connects Wanhua and Banqiao. I think there’s also one in Erchong. Do a search for something along the lines of 河濱公園 遙控車 and see what you can find in your area.

I don’t know how foreigner friendly the tracks are, but I doubt that they’d give you a hard time if you want to race your car there. It would help if you speak some Chinese, I’m sure.

In Taichung area, there is an American, named Brendan Waldsmith (not sure about spelling) who is really into RC cars… practicing every weekend under Freeway #3 near Kaiguan… with guys from a local RC factory, called MSC or MST. Need to refresh the data.
