Re-entering Taiwan without ARC?

Hi guys,

I have a question about ARC and resident visa. Someone might have asked about the same thing in a previous post; if that’s the case, I apologize for re-posting.

So I have obtained a single-entry resident visa from Taiwan’s consular office in the US (no such thing as multiple-entry resident visa). Then I am supposed to apply for ARC within 15 days of arrival in Taiwan. I think it takes about a month to get the ARC card (or can it be much faster than that?).

My problem is that, about a week after arriving in Taiwan, I need to fly abroad. That means, I will be flying out of Taiwan potentially without an ARC card. So my question is, how do I re-enter Taiwan?

I googled around and I found information about this thing called the re-entry permit, and it seems quite straight-forward: just go to a local police station and get a stamp on passport. Does anyone know if I can get a re-entry permit while my ARC is processing, and if I can use that re-entry permit to enter Taiwan?

Thanks beforehand for the comments!

You will have to go to the NIA (National Immigration Agency) office closest to you with proof that your work permit and or ARC is being processed and ask them to put a Re-entry permit in your passport. The local Police won’t deal with things like that.
