Re-funding taxes to an employer?

Okay, I have a weird situation. I resigned a job as of Jan 31 2021 and my new company immediately took over my ARC and pays my taxes. I just contacted my old employer (whom I worked for for 14 months) to request my 2020 taxes. They said that they I was still on their payroll in February and this month and are requesting that I reimburse them for the taxes that they paid for me for the two months (and I have already paid those taxes for the company that I currently work for). What the hell? Can’t they just get proof that I already worked for another company in February and this month and get reimbursed for that money? I didn’t always get along with the owner, but she was never dishonest. This seems really shady to me.

Just ignore them.

It won’t be worth them taking you to court.

Ask them for the pay they apparently paid you in order to incur these taxes, then pay them back from that money.

Either something got lost in translation or she’s a bit thick then…

I’m guessing they paid NHI or labor insurance for you, rather than taxes. Either way they can claim them back from the good old govment,

If the tax means premium of labor/health insurance kind of things, you can check if they were paid twice at labor/health insurance departments, if you want to confirm. The departments will eventually solve it later, though.

Income tax is paid from your income. If you over paid, it will be returned to you. You can know at tax office.
