Rebooting the Forums
Is it possible to embed swfs and things, like youtube videos, in posts? That would be pretty cool, but probably not necessary as a Day 1 feature…
It can do nasty things to your browser. We used to have that feature but then a harmless flash game started redirecting the whole page to another website.

I prefer we can get rid of the “debug mode” thingy and stop fiddling.

Sorry LL, hopefully this is being addressed in phpBB 3.0. This problem you cite is a problem that busy phpBB 2.0 forums suffer. I’ve looked for solutions for it on phpbb.com and phpbbhacks.com but I haven’t found any yet. I do not consider it a critical issue since there are a number of ways you can track recent posts…
It’s pretty critical, believe me. It doesn’t only affect the “new posts” results but also the “24” ones. It’s working around one time in ten for me at the moment. I have to be super quick to scroll down the page to hit the “next” button.

A simple thing you could do to help is to have the “next page” and the page numbers at the top of each newposts/24 results page, in addition to the bottom. That would save a little time scrolling and reduce the problem I think.

For awhile, I thought our falungong fans were hacking f.com

Is there a countdown to the big reboot? A scheduled date?

I thought it was done 4 days ago on 01 Aug.

Nope, still not working. Who would advertise on a site that regularly goes down ?

Most of the men I know.

Yes! Best joke of the day by far. Dix points!

I don’t get it.

neither does she

dix points pour moi aussi???

Hehe, easy pussycat! If only you knew…

Nope, no points this time. Keep trying! You’ll catch me out one day. If you live to be 100, that is.

Is it just me having major instances of the ‘debug mode’ issue lately, or are you guys suffering as well?

Suffering bigtime. :frowning:

Same here …

It’s a few months now that this has been a real problem, and I think my suggestion might help a bit.

I say it’s worth a try.

It would be nice to take care of this problem, once and for all.
