Red signs on doors

I was wondering the other day, why do people have those red signs on their doors? What do they say - mean…?

Stay out! Angry dogs inside! …

They are called 春聯(Chuan Lien) and are put up on the first day of Chinese New Year. They express good luck and wishes for the family to be healthy and wealthy in the coming new year.

Head out to Taipei Main Station. First, check out Chongxin and Chengde Streets, where they have lots of cute stores selling new year’s stuff. You will see more of these red papers. Soem are hand made on the spot by famous artista, and make great gifts.

Then go to Dihua Street, there is a carnival out there for New Year. More red papers. Lost of food to sample.

Enjoy the craziest time of the year here.
