I’m planning on moving to TaiChung in June. I’ll be quitting my job here in Taipei and looking for a job down there. I’ll also be enrolling in Tunghai university.
What problems am I going to have with my ARC? When I quit my present job, my ARC is revoked, isn’t it? Do I get a grace period to find a new job? Even if I find a new job in Taichung before I go, it takes a month to get an ARC, doesn’t it?
Anyone have any pointers about how to go about the whole thing as smoothly as possible?
There is no grace period for finding a new job. Once your employer cancels your ARC, you have 14 days to get out.
The ideal situation would be for the employer you are leaving to refrain from cancelling your ARC until you get your new employer on it. Is there any likelihood of that happening?
If you’re enrolling in Tunghai U, wouldn’t it be possible to get an ARC through them? Or is there a waiting period first?
You have to leave the country to get a university ARC after leaving a job. If you can get it transferred by finding another job quickly with an ARC you may not have to.
I would recommend finding a new employer and waiting for them to get a work permit before you quit your first job.
