Remember The EIGHTIES?

I loved the 80s. My memories were all media and fashion…growing pains, family ties, pound puppies, gem, jelly bracelets, bodysuit underneath a neon tank top, hair crimping (not me, i was too young to be into too much fashion), thick slouch socks with LA gear shoes. Permed hair with bangs, and the older girls had permed hair with really high bangs, high waisted jeans, nipped at the ankle, with keds.

Mcdonald’s burgers in styrofoam boxes, pop rocks, stringy chewing gum, fishing for tadpoles in the dyke outside our house. Playing hockey on our street, when a car rolled down, all the kids would stop and yell “car” and we all knew whose dad was home from work. Cabbage patch kids, my little pony, WWF!!! Teen beat, tiger beat, richard grieco, johnny depp (drool), diff’rent strokes, married with children (snuck downstairs to watch).

Good times good times…how i miss that decade.

The 80’s might have not have been so damn awful if they had not followed the truly splendid 70’s.
The eighties were so noxious that they even made the mediocre nineties a welcome relief.

I can’t escape the 80’s ? Seems missing it a lot. Busy downloading YouTube clips from that era

Another one which reflects how music doomed politics :
The Clash - Rock the Casbah

What was the youth culture like? mall, movie theater, baseball card store, park took up 90% of my time away from home.

What was the state of consumer technology? Apple 2E classes in school learning how to program the LOGO? turtle, NES,

How did people dress? Pastels? Surfing stuff was in like T&C, B.A.

How did people talk? (Any slangs native to that time period?) SoCal: Dude, rad, moded, scratch, bad, bitchen, psyche

Was there any prevalent social behaviors that we don’t see today? Wow… tough one. Life was definitely simpler, slower and more wholesome.

What were people fighting for? Our right… to PARTY!

What were people’s hopes/dreams? Same as it is now… to get rich.

What do you miss from that decade? Being young.

What don’t you miss from that decade? Being young.

What is your most memorable 80s song? Bust a move.

If it happened during the 80s: What was the song you and your prom date danced to? Or the song heard on your first date? Or played at your wedding? NA

In your opinion, what was the single most memorable pop-culture event from that decade? …

What was the single most memorable moment of your life during that time? Discovering a stash of porn in my neighbor’s garage.

Hope that helped.

The 80s was awesome, it was a blur. It was an Awesome blur !

I was too young to be old, too old to be young. It was discovery. It was freedom. It was experimentation.

It was the medium pool in life. You can push the limit and yet still have safe harbor.

HyperColor t-shirts. Those were big in the US as well.

In Southern California, surf/skate brands were big. Vans and Converse shoes. And Vuarnet t-shirts. I have no idea why. I had a Vuarnet t-shirt and I didn’t even know what the company made. I thought it was a cycling company, but I just looked it up and it’s a French firm that makes sunglasses!

Italo Disco baby ! The 80s R.O.C.K.E.D. Theres no other way bout it. It was A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

National Geographic HD is showcasing " remember the Eighties " currently ( as we speak)

For all youngsters, " the eighties is what made us" is highly recommended to watch - going back to the future

Id go back and relive the 80s !

I’d go back and pump up the volume.

Apparently the 50s may have been what the people in the 80s thought of, the way we do now of the 80s.

Seems Hugh Hefner was having a grand ol time in his dc 9 jet.

Apple IIe, Commodore PET, TRS-80.
Michael Jackson, Madonna.
Rick Astley, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson.
Depeche Mode, The Smiths, The Cure.
99 Luftballons.
“Go ahead. Make my day.”
“Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!”
Indiana Jones. Back to the Future.
Punk, New Wave, New Romantics.
Pac Man. Donkey Kong.
A new recording format called a “CD”, which was touted as indestructible.

Not sure what all you were up to in the eighties, if indeed some of you were actually there, but I was too busy rockin’ to give much of a shite about any of that crap which they glorify today as being part of that decade.

And thank Allah, as if I knew what was in store for me in the 90’s, I would have not been so well fortified.
