Sorry, but after a while of scanning through this site, I have not found an answer… Could anyone please let me know WHERE I should go to renew my expired license… Do i have to go all the way back to the Shilin location (where I took the actual car test) or can i go to the other locations since i just want to simply renew? And if so does anyone have the address in Taipei???

I searched but couldn’t find any addresses for DMVs in Taipei. I know there’s one on Bade Rd, though.

I didn’t get a renewal notice in the mail from the DMV like I did last time. Then I read this news article: taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/ … 2003565161
I’m on a JFRV-based ARC, so does anybody know if I still need to renew my license?

Yes, you still have to renew. Unfortunately, right now that privilege is only for APRC holders and Taiwan ID holder.
Thanks, dasaint. Yes, I still did need to renew. I got it done earlier today. I guess that’s one more reason to get the APRC if one is planning on staying in Taiwan for a while.
Huh, my scooter driver’s license has expired. I guess I should do something about that (unlike the years from approximately 2004-2009 when I couldn’t be arsed to renew). I think I need to renew it. I’ve got an APRC, but I got that since the renewed driving license six years ago.
If I’m going to the Shilin DMV office, is there anything I need to bring beyond the obvious? APRC, photos I guess, old license, passport just because … am I missing something? How much does that cost? Do I need to do some kind of “health check” again?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Hmm, judging by the article linked to above, I may not even need to renew it. The relevant quote:
I guess that means I get to annoy my wife to make her confirm this. My driving license matched my old ARC, which has the same number as my newer APRC, and doesn’t use my passport, which has changed … so, the Taipei Times tells me I’m good. That’d hold up in court, right?
