What’s the legality of doing a repaint on a car using a different color? From what I hear of other things it sounds like it’s probably not . If so, is there paper work to legally do it? The van I’m looking at buying has less than stellar paint so I’m thinking of just rattle can plastidipping it in black to go for the battlewagon .
You can do it, you are just supposed to tell the DMV. I know with scooters sometimes you have to pay 100nt for a paint change. Cars must be about the same. Tons of people repaint cars here. I don’t think it is a big deal, just repaint your car whatever color you want. My van used to be white and now it is gray.
You can do anything you want… unfortunately. Honestly, some things should be illegal:
I think the office to report this kind of changes is somewhere in the vicinity of Zhongshan and Beiping North road… that’s where I often find stuff like this.
What is the average cost of a full repaint?
I would say you could probably find a place that will respray as cheap as 20,000nt if it is a small car, but it wouldn’t look that great.

Ah, cool, thanks.
For a vehicle colour change, if changing 100% of the vehicle’s exterior colour, then the vehicle must go for re-inspection at the motor vehicle office. The inspection paper can then be taken to the registration desk and the vehicle’s green, license card will be updated/replaced.
To do all this, you will need to take two I.D.s and the vehicle’s green, registration card with you. The process shouldn’t be more than a few hundred dollars.
If spraying a vehicle in two colours, then the ratio of the minimum colour can’t be above 30% of the total exterior coverage.

Oo-er. I reckon my paint is worn down to the point where perhaps close to 30% of the surface is primer rather than top-coat.
If its natural entropy is it still illegal?

Haha. You could always try asking at the motor vehicle office, if you dare.
Otherwise, you could wear some thick rim, dark sunglasses, and if pulled over for it, then just claim you’re blind so you couldn’t possibly tell.
Have you thought about Vynils? That’s not paint and they look great if done properly
If I HAD to repaint a car I’d use the black bitumen paint sold in the Yook for cast - iron drain pipes. Used it on a boat trailer there. Goes on gloss, dries mat, eventually.
Has a number of advantages, but (a) I probably couldn’t get it here, and (b) black is too hot in the sun, and it might melt.
How about those stickers locals use? Behold this hellish sight!
