I have an iPod touch 2 which is about two and a half years old and sees very regular use. Recently I have noticed it does not hold charge like it used to…it drops relatively quickly to about half but then seems to stay there!
Has the battery reached the end of its natural life span? Anyone who has replaced the battery, how much would it cost? Where could I get it done in Taichung? Must it be an authorised Apple dealer?
You can get this done at any number of shops. Does not have to be an authorized dealer since your iPod is now out of warranty. No advice on TaiZhong specifically, but I would start at cell phone repair shops and go from there. If you are inclined and have the tools (number zero zero screwdriver and a flat xacto) this is also not too difficult of a DIY. The only consideration is that most shops who sell the battery will also install it practically for free.
You can use this site as a reference for how much the parts should cost: ifixit.com/iPod-Parts/iPod-T … /IF140-000
Here, the battery is 15USD plus shipping. There is also a very good pictorial and guide on how to DIY it if you have the tools and experience.
Even in the worst possible highway robbery case, it shouldn’t cost more than probably 3000NT. If it does, you’d be nearly half way to a new iPod Touch 4.
