Republican "faggots"?

Amid Kerry’s comments about Cheney’s lesbian daughter, I wonder why this story isn’t getting more media play? Can you image the uproar if this had been a Republican? :astonished:

Fumo apologizes for derogatory term

Friday, October 08, 2004
BY CHARLES THOMPSON

Sen. Vince Fumo issued an open apology yesterday to the gay community for his use of the word “faggot” in a name-calling tirade on the state Senate floor late Wednesday.

Fumo hurled the epithet several times at Senate President Pro Tempore Robert Jubelirer, R-Blair, and Majority Leader David “Chip” Brightbill, R-Lebanon, after the Senate Republicans moved to stifle debate on a number of Democratic amendments to their slots bill.

According to witnesses, Fumo stormed over to the GOP leaders during a break in proceedings and accused them of breaking a pledge that he and his colleagues would be permitted to present their amendments. Fumo used the term several times before the exchange ended. It was not captured on tape.

Later, the Philadelphia Democrat acknowledged to reporters that he had lost his temper and “made a mistake” in his choice of words.[/quote]

Double standards Comrade.

A Pubbies would be tarred, feathered, tied to a rail and paraded out of town. National news would have 23 different ‘experts’ commentating on the potential damage to the sensibilities of children still unborn. :noway:

And the issue under debate is gambling licensing involvement of politicians family members…LOL

How soon everyone forgets. Well, just a reminder that a while back Dick Armey,R-Texas, called Barney Frank a fag. Later Armey tearfully said his words were a mistake and Frank didn’t pursue the matter any futher.

Fumo, like Armey, was wrong to make any comments about someone’s personal life. The whole thing should be and will be forgotten about soon enough.

The difference is that all the major news organizations including CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, Reuters and The Washington Post headlined the Dick Armey story. Have they done the same with this report about Vince Fumo?

The other difference is that Fumo’s just a state senator; Armey’s a Congressman. The local news picked up your story:

news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=u … earch+News

But the national media don’t waste their time reporting on city council meetings and other local news unless the story has national significance, which this story didn’t. One local politician screwed up and then apologized. Story closed.
